American Solutions recently held its second annual Solutions Day to create an action plan for energy. America is suffering from an artificial energy crisis that is also a dangerous national security crisis - artificial because America is gifted with enormous reserves of energy, and dangerous because it makes us vulnerable to unreliable and potentially hostile countries.
At Solutions Day, we discussed solutions to slash gas prices and solve our energy crisis, including drilling both offshore and onshore, investing in nuclear technology, and prizes to accelerate breakthroughs in alternative technologies.
Join former Speaker Newt Gingrich and Texas Railroad Commission Chairman Michael Williams for this solution-oriented dialogue. While you watch, click here to download a checklist of steps you can take to get involved in your community.

I think Newt should have run for president. I am now glad that he did not because the work that American Solutions is in fact more important. I am going to forward this email to at least 50 more people Democrates and Republicans alike. Keep up the good work.
My concern is to wether this is the Williams that supports the Transcorridore through Texas
Mr. Speaker,
I can't agree with you more about the energy situation in the USA.
I too would like to drill now. Saving $700B can help pay off some of out debt.
As we start drilling the price of oil will drop as the Arabs will see that we have resolve and will independent of them.
However, when Obama gets into the oval office we will not be able to do a dam thing about the drilling. He will have the senate, congress and appoint liberals to the Justice department. And we the people can't do a dam thing about it but wait until the next election four years from now.
How he has bamboozled the Americans to think he is the best candidate it beyond my comprehension.
He is for abortion, yes, I am catholic
He wants to ban guns, yes, I own guns.
He wants to establish Marxism in this country. It has failed miserably in ever country it has been tried. Yes, I am Polish and know how it works.
He is tied to a terrorist, a goofball preacher who hates whites and America.
He is part of the FAnnie Freddie mess, Dodd and Frank should be prosecuted.
He is second on the receipt of money from F and F.
He is so far left of Carter he is on another planet.
And last but not least his resume qualifies him for a probation position with any good company in the USA. Fast Track maybe but to immediate CEO now way.
He does not have the experience.
Powell, well unfortunately I think he is voting for Obama because he want to see the first Black president.
Jim Presenkowski
I know that our Energy is a non partisan issue. However, I don't trust Obama to follow through and not cow tow to radical environmentalists and McCain can only say all of the above. Can someone tell him to outline specifics on Energy like Newt did with the contract with America. Can some one do this before he loses the election?
To Whom This May Concern:
"IF" this alleged money is taxpayers - what gives any of you the right to spend it on anything.
HOWEVER, if this alleged money is YOUR OWN PERSONAL money - spend it on anything that makes you happy: farms, horses, slot machines, whores, sluts or whatever.
I would like to see the NATIONAL DEBT PAID DOWN - and make AMERICA once again powerful and a world leader. But, since that isn't going to happen - America will soon join the rest of the BROKE WORLD and be right in the MUD with everyone else.
Until about 1860 - or therebouts - AMERICA was a Nation to be reconded with. Powerful, God Fearing, A WORLD LEADER. NOT anymore. I am NOT proud of America - America MURDERS over 4,000 babies everyday. America pentalizes Constructive progress. REWARDS welfare bums, degenerates, and those who HATE America.
BUT, that's ok - because JUDGMENT is right around the corner - my friend. YOU can brag all you want in HELL!
Comrade Dave
Thank You for giving us statistics that we can all understand and not just a political or campaign speach. What we need now is the do nothing Congress to take action instead of making this another 30 years of arguing who is going to get the upper hand in the next election or next session of the House and worse yet the Senate.
We need more electric and plug in hybrid vehicles to use that coal, natural gas and nuclear generated electricity. We also need to stop making ethanol from corn. It is extremely counter productive.
I am all for drill now and the other things, but I also drive a Prius. That reduces our dependence on foreign oil immediately!
FYI: Propane is derived from oil. It is not going to reduce our oil dependence.
One of the quickest ways to conserve energy is to start using hydrogen mixed with gas in all of our car engines.
A hydrogen generator can supplement gas by adding hydrogen from a generator located under the hood. This unit will cause an increase of from 20% to 50% in gas mileage. In addition the hydrogen will burn all the unspent gas and cause zero emissions. No hydrocarbons, cleaner oil, no polution. These have been available for a number of years and have been completely ignored by auto manufacturers. A hydrogen generator can generate as much as 2 liters/minute drawing only 16 amps from the battery. They are completely safe as they only generate when the engine is running and a spark arrester protects the generator from backfire from the engine. Besides the increase in gas mileage an increase in engine power of 15 to 20 percent is also resulted.
Besides working for gas engines, it works even better on diesel engines and big semi's get an additional 2.2 mpg.
The cost? They are available on eBay for $300 to $400 for ones that work. Many of the units being sold on eBay do not work as they do not produce the 2 liters or better required to assist most cars!
I am not advertising these units, only trying to educate the public to the fact that they do work. If the car manufacturer put these on their cars in the first place, there would be no need for catalytic converters and the hydrogen generators would cost less when mass produced than the expensive platinum used in the catalytic converters!
Think of how much less gas we could use with an extra 20 miles per gallon!
Don't believe me; go to eBay, search all categories for hydro super 2 or just search hydrogen generators and see for yourself.
This isn't the complete answer, but it is a good first step.
PS, I would like to buy an electric car to drive to work and back, but I am not willing to pay $35,000 for that privilege. General Motors can put their Volt in the books with the Edsel!
A converted car using standard batteries can get 30 to 50 miles to a charge.
Why can't the automakers make what WE want instead of what they want to sell us?
Ed
It's time for our Government to get started drilling offshore and onshore,
work on new technology, and help the American people survive in this time
of crisis. Why is our tax dollars paying their salary's if they are not
going to get off their rear end's and do something. It's time the American people strike out and demand for something to be done.
Thanks Newt and all who are keeping this vital agenda in our consciousness.
We are behind you and the practical and doable solutions being put forth to keep our American way of life healthy and independent of the forces in this world that are jealous of what we do and who want to destroy us.
This is truly a battle and we must have the courage to fight it. Thank you for giving us the information and facts to produce that courage.
As an independent small business man for over 40 years, a veteran and a great-grandfather; I will fight to see that the solutions you are proposing get a chance to be developed to full fruition.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

I think the message is wonderful and its goals must be met but I am afraid now that oil prices are under $74.00 per barrel, the message will be lost. I have directed aquantances to the site and they have told me good things but they do not join. In my opinion they just think someone else will do it. As with all things, involvement on a grand scale will not happen until we convince them, on a personal level, that we are still in jeopardy.
The other comment I have is that although fresh water is not energy, the U.S. is running dry. (see Ogallala Aquifer). Is there a way of including this preciuos resource into the program?
Klandistek:
With nuclear power it is quite conceivable to use the waste heat to power a desalinization or waste water distillation/reclamation plant at the back-end of the power plant. Further the waste heat could be used to power a bio-fuel production facility.
The only thing standing in the way of energy independence and all of the related benefits is the National will to proceed.

Thank you for your honest concern for America & and Americans. The major problem we face has not been addressed; our schools are in disarray, our teachers are doing a disservice to the cause of freedom, and the situation is becoming worse as we speak. That is the reason people like the Clintons and Obama even stand a chance at "leading" any facet of our country.
Our people are not able to see past the rhetoric and hoopla these people are offering. It starts in our schools, and until we realistically address that problem, we will continue on our downward spiral.
Keep up the good work; however, let's expand it to include the foundation of the problem.

Thank you, American Solutions! Solutions Day presented clear ideas to make our country energy independent--finally! The only time this issue has come to the forefront is when gasoline for vehicles and fuel for home heating has become costly. How many times has that happened in the last 30 years?!! My fear is that when fuel prices are reduced that the enthusiasm for our becoming energy independent will fade. Let's not let that happen!
C'mon, Congress, do what needs to be done and invest in natural gas, solar, wind, nuclear, oil drilling, bio-fuels, clean coal, and other energy alternatives. Provide funding for researchers at universities to create solutions that we may not have yet conceived. Yes, we also need to update power grids so energy that is produced can be transported to users.
My question for American Solutions--what is your relationship with T. Boone Pickens and his energy plan? Why not partner with him and his group?
We are moving in the right direction with oil prices. But like klandistek said, the message might be lost. I saw on the news yesterday that people were so happy that gas prices were under a $3. Are you kidding me? Its still twice as much to fill my vehicle up as it was in 2000. We must continue the push to drill offshore and free up the money we are sending over to other countries that hate us to pay down our debt and invest in wind, solar and all the other sources of energy that are out there. I am afraid that if Obama wins the election, everything that "we the people" want, will be controlled by Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. Even the hardcore democrats should know that too much power for anyone can turn into something really bad.
I'm not much of a brain surgeon, but if there is anything I can do to help the movement, I want to do everything I can.
I remember paying $1.50 a gallon in 2000. I remember paying $1.00 a gallon in 1998. No one should feel relieved or even happy that we are now paying under $3.00 a gallon.
Let's change America Now.

Thank you, Newt and your American Solutions team, I'm sure I don't have to say "keep up the good work;" however, I'll say it anyhow. Keep up the good work. Sure, drill now and drill often, get new refineries running: develop as many alternate energy sources as available.
However, we have a serious problem that I haven't heard anyone else address, and it is a problem that is very difficlt to attack, nevertheless it is tearing us apart -- our schools and our teachers are the heart of the problem. We are not teaching our youth to think, to evaluate, to measure by deeds, not just rhetoric. How else could we allow people like the Clintons & Obama to be in a position to ruin the moral and economic strength of our great nation?
There are many fine teachers in this great land; however, the seady one's that can't otherwise measure up have overridden the good one's and we see it from pre-school to and through the universities every day. A good teacher is worth more to our great country than all the weaponry we can muster; however, by and large, the product being produced by our schools today is the root of our problems. I would sure like to see you attack that problem as well as the energy and economic problem. We've got a bunch of them. Thanks for your help.
i want to say that this is a movement that should not stop untill we are free from buying oil over seas. i will also say that all though i wanted MCcain 8 years ago instead of Bush . i will vote for MCcain now but am dissapointed in him wanting the imagration bill last year that would have legalize 12 million imagrints. that would have increased our population 10 fold in ten years. it would have been devestated to this country if we would have increased our population to 120 million. we only have about 280 million now in the histery of our nation. does people understand what this can do to this country. obama wants the same and so there is no choice in this matter as you can see. but MCcain is the better one of the two for the nation for now i will say. when will Newt run for president. he has my vote. gary
This so called oil crisis is man made by hostile countries several of which are under our protection. At the same time they are sticking it to us at the pumps.
Alternate power is a good idea but is 10 yrs down the road. For now we MUST drill on land and offshore, build many refineries, build nucular power plants (start building NOW), extract oil from coal (we have huge deposits),
Drill on ANWAR NOW.
GOD put these resources in America to use. The idiots that have locked up our resources continue to fabricate facts that are grosely untrue and UNFOUNDED. The environtalists have controled this Country much to long.
They need to get real jobs. They have tied up out timber and oil, what next air?
